In celebration of Mario’s most recent big screen appearance in the new Super Mario Brothers movie, Illumination and Nintendo collaborated with Red Wing to create an in real life representation of Mario’s Boots. The first time a wearable Mario’s boot have been brought to life in the world. The boots were hand crafted following the full 3D representation of the boots from the film. And were announced during a Nintendo Direct of Mario Day (Mar 10) that they will be be put on display at Nintendo’s Flagship store in NY. The result of this announcement was over 4 Billion earned media impressions, from +75 media hits including Complex, Hypebeast, FastCompany and many many more. This cultural moment signaled the fandom and excitement from the forthcoming film and the resulting box office proved that out.
